Fear and LOVE.

What do fear and Love have to do with your recovery for bulimia or anorexia or binge eating?

Well, lots.

I could actually sum up full recovery for bulimia in two simple points:

  • Overcoming fears (Challenging limiting beliefs)
  • Learning how to Love (Oneself)

This is really quite simple and by doing these two things allows for overcoming the eating disorder, behaviors, and thinking, allowing for full recovery for bulimia.  It also allows for personal growth: mental, emotional, spiritual growth.

Because all of our challenges in our recovery for bulimia stem from fear.  All of the good things in life come from LOVE.

The eating disorder is an expression of self-hatred (no love) and extreme fear.  In order to make a full recovery for bulimia, anorexia, or binge eating we must learn to face our fears and develop a relationship with ourself.

We must be easy on ourselves as we are embarking on this process.  We must understand that what we are is not bad.  It is only what we have learned.  Eating disorders are a bio-psycho-social dis-ease.  We have developed our patterns partially from genetics, biology, partly from environmental factors and learned behaviors from our society, teachers, education, peers, and partly from our psychological makeup and disposition.

We must understand in our recovery for bulimia that we have learned those behaviors and thinking and have integrated them into ourselves with our limited knowledge at that time.  There is no room or reason for blame here.  Your parents taught you what they knew only because that was what was taught to them.  Now we know differently.  We know a better way to live.  And we can live free from the eating disorder, the dysfunctional eating disorder behaviors and negative thinking.

Also the “dis-ease” is only that.  A lack of ease.  A body, a mind, a soul that is not at ease.

It is not a permanent state of being, as nothing in this world is permanent.

Your body is resilient and was made with the magnificent ability to HEAL itself (hence the name – healing for eating disorders!).  We are flexible and fluid.  In recovery for bulimia we must learn a way to flow along with life.  We must develop ourselves so that we are able to not only cope with our lives, but thrive in a way that is satisfying, fulfilling.

In the beginning of your recovery for bulimia, it will seem this way – that GOSH!  Recovery for bulimia or anorexia or binge eating is SO DAMN HARD!  You will wonder if it will always be a struggle – fighting to steer clear of anything that “triggers” you to have an urge and send you down the inevitable negative spiral of the eating disorder behaviors and thinking.  Yes, it will seem this way at first in your recovery for bulimia, that you are struggling to learn how to simply cope with life and living in this physical existence without the eating disorder symptoms.

Don’t give up!  This too shall pass.  If there’s anything I’ve learned throughout my recovery for bulimia is that if you don’t give up you will not fail!  When you are challenging the eating disorder, it seems to get louder and so overwhelming.  Which is probably why some women give up, because they fear that they don’t have what it takes to make a full recovery for bulimia.  But I promise you that it will get better, but it does take walking through those fears, feeling the anxiety, and doing it anyway.

So if recovery for bulimia is about overcoming fears…what happens if I’m afraid?!?!?!

That’s exactly what it is about!

We are afraid of so many things in recovery for bulimia – and it will vary for you – but many women are  afraid of feeling our feelings, we are afraid of giving up control, we are afraid of gaining weight, we are afraid of not being enough, we are afraid of what others think of us, and we are afraid of all that we have kept locked down deep inside ourselves – feelings, thoughts, emotions, memories and the like.

Recovery for bulimia or anorexia or binge eating or ednos is about facing these fears as anxiety-provoking and scary as they are!!!

Recovery for bulimia is about challenging these fears and dissolving them.  You must learn how to allow yourself to admit that you are scared, you are anxious and intimidated by what lies ahead.  I am here to tell you that you must take it one step at a time but you can attain full recovery for bulimia and go on to lead a happy and fulfilling life. 🙂

Remember you must LEARN from your experiences.  Recovery for bulimia or any eating disorder is a process of becoming aware of what we are thinking and not acting on our initial impulses.  It will not be perfect and you are sure to make a “mistake” or slip.  What’s important to remember is what you learned from these experiences.

Learning from our experiences comes in when we are facing our fears and learning to love ourselves in recovery for bulimia.  You will find that the Universe will keep putting experiences in your life over and over again if you do not learn from them.  They will keep showing up by way of opportunities to grow and change.  And if you do not take these opportunities to overcome what you are afraid of facing in your recovery for bulimia then you will not grow and you will be stuck in the same pattern, the same vicious eating disorder cycle again.

Take advantage of the hardships in your recovery for bulimia and understand that they are a way for you to grow, to evolve.  Your recovery for bulimia or anorexia or binge eating or EDNOS is all about overcoming your fears and growing in love.  You must face what it is that you have been avoiding and you must allow love into your experience to light up those dark places within you.

Your life depends on you living it.  You are meant to be happy and fulfilled.  You CAN have a full recovery for bulimia or anorexia or binge eating or EDNOS and have an amazing life.  You don’t have to be trapped in your eating disorder any longer!  You are totally capable of full recovery for bulimia and you deserve it.  The opposite of fear is love, but LOVE has no opposite.  Remember your true nature is LOVE and as you allow the LOVE in your life it will be easier to trust that your fears will not overwhelm you.  You can get through it.  You are love.
